Public Defender

Today, I contacted the Public Defenders office and was told Adam will have an attorney present on his hearing date this week, however the real attorney will not even be assigned to him until sometime in mid-June. This is how the justice system works? He gets an attorney to represent him, but no one will know of his Autism when he see's the judge?

I know the court system is overloaded, I know the attorney offices are overloaded, but what happened to knowing your client? If no one knows about Adam's Autism how are we going to be able to let the judge know he has difficulty understanding what he is being told? How are we going to be able to speak with his attorney and find out what is going on?

This is all about time and money and your lot in life. If you have the money to pay for an attorney you get full benefit of the justice system and if you need a public defender, you take what you get when you can get it.

How many times in this past week I have gone through my mind trying to find out what I did wrong, how this has happened and how it is I live paycheck to paycheck and can't help my own child.

Just as God had to let Jesus endure the cross for us, I must allow Adam to go through what he is because I can't afford to do anything else put pray.
